One of the most important things we do at Bridge of Hope is to empower people with accurate information which allows them to make informed decisions. The recent outbreak of COVID-19 can create some fear and insecurities especially for moms trying to stay healthy during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
It’s also important to know that to date there has been no evidence of transmission from mom to baby in-utero. Babies are remaining healthy even if mom has been diagnosed with COVID-19. Also, women are encouraged to continue to breastfeed even while infected with precautions to keep baby safe.
The National Perinatal Association states that we can help address anxieties and fears our clients have of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) by doing the following:
- Acknowledging that our client’s concerns are valid
- Sharing our own experiences and reactions
- Explaining proven public health responses
- Promoting the evidence
- Dispelling the myths
- Modeling healthy behavior
Although we will continue to remain open during normal hours, we have established a 24-hour hot-line to continue our care while addressing concerns. That phone number is 816.266.9316.
